Houston guard Kingston Flemings has emerged as a key mover in the 2026 NBA Draft class, moving up to the No. 7 overall projection in an updated mock draft from The Athletic. The 6-4 guard is averaging 15.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and five assists while shooting 61 percent from the field and 52 percent from three-point range.
Scouts contacted for the updated projections spoke on condition of anonymity. The consensus remains that the draft class is extremely strong due to the top eight selections, led by Kansas guard Darryn Peterson, Duke forward Cameron Boozer and BYU wing AJ Dybantsa.
Flemings answered questions about his role in Houston’s scheme and his skill level as a scorer. His speed was extremely impressive to observers throughout the early season.
Scouts want to see more Flemish players play and make decisions via ball screens. His willingness to jump before making decisions as a passer has raised concerns, but his tools are generating excitement.
Peterson, Boozer and Dybantsa are still viewed as franchise-level talents who will invite a tank race the league hasn’t seen since Victor Wembanyama became No. 1 in 2023. Peterson has been limited to two games this season due to a hamstring injury, but remains the prospect scouts are discussing most enthusiastically.
Boozer averaged 23.6 points and 9.3 rebounds through his first nine games at Duke. Dybantsa is averaging 19 points and 6.4 rebounds for BYU while shooting 52 percent from the field.
North Carolina’s Caleb Wilson and Baylor’s Cameron Carr also did their best to extend the class. Wilson is averaging nearly 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Carr is shooting 57 percent from the field and 55.2 percent from three-point range.
