Is Kingman (Always B Miki) comes?
That question will be answered tomorrow (Thursday) by his owner Mick Harvey on whether the $28,750 late payment has been lodged for the IRT New Zealand Trotting Cup.
However, another hurdle was cleared today at Club Menangle as the four-year-old stallion safely cleared the tires to gain his standing start qualification.
“He walked beautifully and felt great,” said his trainer/driver Luke McCarthy.
“It was nice working on a wet track the last three quarters.”
The son of Always B Miki then recorded a total speed of 1.54.1 seconds with quarters of 30.7, 28.4, 28.3 and 26.7.
The last Group 1 Victoria Cup start winner is currently the $6 third favorite at TAB despite not yet being confirmed in the field.
Meanwhile, Leap To Fame has completed the necessary checks following his return to the winner’s circle on Saturday evening and his journey is back on track.
“He’ll get some decent training in here in Melbourne before the flight on Monday,” Grant Dixon said when he joined The Box Seat this week.
“Now it’s just a matter of stringing him along and getting on a plane to go there.”
And when it comes to two-time defending champion Swayzee, he can cement his journey with a forward performance when he competes in a 1609m free-for-all at Menangle on Saturday at 10:03pm NZT.
