Khamzat Chimaev doesn’t think Gordon Ryan’s strategy to beat him will work. Chimaev (15-0) has looked virtually invincible throughout his UFC career, save for hard-fought fights against Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns. “Borz” defeated Dricus Du Plessis over five rounds to win the middleweight title at UFC 319 in August 2025.
Gordon Ryan recently claimed that he has a strategy for fighters to beat Chimaev. The jiu-jitsu ace advised fighters to make repeated granby throws against Chimaev instead of just one attempt. Ryan further suggested that Chimaev’s opponents should threaten submissions during throws and take the opportunity to get back on their feet. However, Chimaev isn’t buying any of it.
I don’t buy it
“Big bulls – t,” wrote Chimaev. Meanwhile, UFC welterweight Joaquin Buckley invited Chimaev onto the Overdogs podcast to explain why Ryan’s strategy won’t work.“[Khamzat
Chimaev] Let the show explain why that is so
[bulls—t],” Buckley wrote.
Chimaev replied: “[Buckley] you too same st.”
Khamzat Chimaev doesn’t seem to be the biggest fan of any advice on how to stop him. 🐺
“Big bulls***” on Gordon Ryan’s tips for fighters on how to neutralize dominant wrestlers like Khamzat.
And even a little back and forth with Joaquin Buckley, who offered Chimaev a spot on… https://t.co/98KGzBC4Eq pic.twitter.com/z97c9cCQrw
