Nugent-Hopkins is not a man who you exchange until you feel that you absolutely have to. Much more has to go wrong before the oilers have to discuss him to go outside for another player. He has a value contract that looks better when the cap goes up. He is useful in many ways, even if he is not a point-per-game player.
That said, if he is a trending to be a 40-point player and he is not used as often in the Power Play, he is not an option management, especially if the oilers can fill a different hole as a goal congregation.
Give him time this season before you press the panic button. There can still be a lot of play there.
