When Cam Thomas agreed to a qualifying offer with the Brooklyn Nets in early September, the decision set him up for unrestricted free agency after the season.

That contract structure means Thomas will be free to choose his next destination, and at least one prominent NBA voice believes he will be a great value to whoever lands him.

Kevin Durant, who now stars for the Houston Rockets, spoke highly of Thomas’ long-term prospects, according to Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype.

Durant emphasized that top scorers are sometimes overlooked compared to defenders and facilitators, even though creating consistent shots remains one of the league’s most difficult and valuable skills.

He suggested Thomas simply needs an organization willing to commit to him, give him responsibility and allow his offensive game to flourish within a system designed around his strengths.

Durant also pointed out Thomas’ age, noting that at 24 years old, there is still plenty of room for development and improvement.

So far this season, Thomas has continued to show why that trust exists.

Although he sat out Friday’s game against Washington before halftime, the young guard is averaging 21.4 points per game through his first 11 appearances, reinforcing the idea that his scoring ability could become even more impactful in the right situation.
