Kerala Local Body Election Result 2025: The BJP has created history in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, winning an NDA for the first time in the capital’s civic body. The BJP-led alliance has reached the halfway point and won 50 seats in the newly expanded 101-member entity, emerging as the biggest political force. According to the final count, the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) won 29 seats, while the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) won 19. The local polls were held in two phases: December 9 and 11.

Reacting to the NDA’s victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the BJP is committed to the growth of this vibrant city. “Thank you Thiruvananthapuram! The mandate given to the BJP-NDA in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation is a turning point in Kerala politics. The people are confident that the developmental aspirations of the state can only be addressed by our party. Our party will work towards the growth of this vibrant city and promote ‘Ease of Living’ for the people,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted.

Besides, the NDA retained the Palakkad municipality after a fierce battle with the UDF and wrested the Thrippunithura municipality from the grand old party. In Thrissur, BJP won 18 of 46 wards in Kodungallur Municipality, 8 in Thrissur Corporation, two each in Guruvayoor and Vadakkancherry Municipalities, 7 in Kunnamkulam Municipality, 6 in Irinjalakuda Municipality and one in Chalakudy Municipality.

Elections were held in 1,199 local bodies in Kerala, including grama panchayats, block panchayats, district panchayats, municipalities and corporations. In total, more than 23,573 wards were contested.
