The 33-year-old India National Cricket Team-Batsman Karun Nair has simply rejected his comparisons with the ODI skipper and the modern large, Rohit Sharma.

Karun Nair said he should not be compared to Rohit Sharma because he is a legend of the game and he just starts in his international career.

Karun Nair failed in his comeback in India

Nair organized his comeback in India after eight years after his consistent performances in the Interior Cricket for Vidarbha. Karun Nair was a man on a mission when he showed incredible Batting versions in the formats and attracted the attention of Selectors.

His domestic cricket master class did not go unnoticed when he first achieved an Indian Premier League (IPL) deal with the Delhi Capitals (DC) and then received his India Recall for the English tour.

Nair, who is India’s second triple Centurion in Tests, started the English tour on an excellent note by breaking a brilliant 204 in a tour match against the England Lions in Canterbury.

But when the main series began, his struggles started and he only managed to score 205 runs in 8 innings at an average of 25.62, and his method of dismissal was also examined.

It will be unfair to be compared to the legend – Karun Nair

Apart from his poor trips, Karun Nair came in the spotlight for his appearance. With the helmet on, Nair’s body structure and batting position seemed somewhat similar to Rohit Sharma, where fans point to the similarities on social media platforms.

When asked about this in an interaction with Sports Yaari, Nair said he feels nice to be compared to a legend like Rohit Sharma, but thought that this was not the right one to make comparisons. He said:

“Everyone nowadays looks at everything that goes around on social media, but you know that Rohit Sharma is a legend of the game, and I don’t really know what to say, it’s nice to see, but I would not want to compare myself with someone who is a legend of the game. It will be unfair to be compared to the legend, while I was just my core.”

I struck very well in the entire series – Nair

In another interaction with PTI, Karun Nair expressed his disappointment because he could not convert his start into large scores. He said:

“I hit the whole series very well and I got in most games at the beginning. But I was just unable to convert it, which was more frustrating for me than anyone.

Nair further said that he was proud to be part of the Indian team that attracted the series in England and head coach Gautam Gambhir and Captain Shubman Gill has credited to create a good environment.

“Not many teams went to England and have leveled the series in five tests. I am really proud to be part of this great team,” he said.

“The best part was that the messages were clear. We showed that we never give up, and the attitude was to keep fighting. You could see that on the field,” he added
