A fourth consecutive day of perfect tennis weather also led to perfection in the designs of the seeds, with the top 16 seeds in both divisions of Usta Boys National Championships On the way to Tuesday’s Tour of 32.

Unlike during the weekend, when competitions of the second round were generally easy for the top seeds, challenging games were the standard in the 64 games Monday in Stowe Stadium, with the last games in the 18S only after 10 p.m. due to the long races during the day.

In the 16S division, no. 3 Seed Roshan Santhosh and no. 6 Seed Keshav Muthuvel, who played side by side at Court 3 and George Acker Court 1, both dropped the first set. Muthuvel recovered to beat no. 33 Seed Maxwell Paape with 4-6, 6-3, 6-0, while Santhosh reached the fourth round when Simon Hayal, another 33 seed, retired 3-6, 6-4, 4-1 in the last set. Hayal took a medical time -out before the last match of the second set, and one point in that tenth game, surrendered in the trash can near the field. He continued, lost the game and the 10-minute break between sets did not help the 16-year-old left-handed from Atlanta in the last set.

No. 8 Seed Tristan Stratton also struggled powerfully with colleague New Yorker Antanas Daugis, a 33 seed, before he placed a three-hour 6-7 (0), 7-6 (3), 6-4 victory. Stratton plays one of the three non-seded players on the left in the 16s Final 32, Andrej Markovic, who followed his victory at no. 25 Seed Artem Dmytrenko on Sunday with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over no. 33 Seed Liam Collins today.

16s top seeds Michael Antonius and Andrew Johnson continued to cruise and only lost two games between them today, the same as yesterday. No. 1 Seed Antonius defeated no. 33 Seed Anish Poojari 6-1, 6-0, while Johnson made Jacob Pletka with the same score.

Seeds no. 1 and no. 2 in the 18S had many more problems, with 2022 16s champion Darwin Blanch defeated no. 33 seed nicholas Mekhael 6-4 and 2023 16s champion Cooper Woenstendick that needed two hours and 17 minutes to pass by no. 33 Seed David Wu 7-5, 6-4.

No. 3 Seed Jack Kennedy and no. 4 Seed Benjamin Willwerth came through in straight sets, but no. 5 Seed Ronit Karki, the finalist of Wimbledon Boys 2025, needed more than three hours to post a 6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-4 victory over Alex Suhanitski of New York.

Karki said he woke up to a text from a friend in the eastern section who warned him to be ready for a tough game today.

“My good friend texted me, he knows the man pretty well and he is:” Look out for this guy, be ready today, “said the 17-year-old from New Jersey. “I underestimate anyone, especially at Kalamazoo, and he played very well. It was not surprised that he was a great player.”

Karki, who played at Wimbledon Court less than a month ago, was not worried that he was 11, the most remote court in Stowe Stadium, with the barns and scaffolding behind the court, far away from the Popping Champagne Corks and cared garden -atmosphere in the All England Lawn Tennis Club.

“When the game started, it didn’t make much difference,” said Karki. “It was especially used to the circumstances in general. It will clearly not be exactly how Wimbledon was, so I had to make some adjustments, but I think I did pretty well to just stay calm during the second and third.”

Karki, who won three consecutive games in Wimbledon from a set Down, said that his experience and trust were keys at the top.

“It’s just a little more experience this year, a little more solid off the legs, and I just trusted my game when I got the ball a little more aggressive this year and I think that’s the difference,” said Karki.

The opponent of Karki on Tuesday is the local favorite Simon Caldwell, the number 23 seed, which had a much faster third round game at Court 2 and Zen Uehling beat 6-2, 6-0. The 18-year-old from Grand Rapids, a quarter-finalist in the 16S in 2023, played Karki on an ITF J200 in Canada in April and fell 6-4, 6-7 (2), 6-2.

“It was a narrow match,” said Karki. “And he is always pretty good here, so it will certainly be a good match.”

Tuesday schedule in Stowe Stadium contains all 32 round of 16 games in the 16s and 18s. The fourth round of 18S Doubles will start in Stowe at 4 p.m., with the third round of 16s Doubles in Western Michigan from 4.30 p.m.
