Kaik Brito fights Ronald Paradeiser at Oktagon 84: Paradeiser vs. Brito on February 14 for OKMMA’s vacant welterweight championship. Paradeiser is a former lightweight champion and European MMA Champions League finalist. When asked for his thoughts on what Paradeiser has to offer in terms of his resume and skills as a fighter, Brito said [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“In my opinion it would be a very dangerous opponent for me. I think this is my toughest fight ahead of me.”
In terms of the mentality he went into this fight with, he was previously Oktagon Welterweight Champion, but there was also an opportunity where he fought for that vacant title that didn’t go his way. In that context, when asked how much it would mean to him to become a two-time Oktagon welterweight champion here, Brito said: [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“I think this is my moment. The fights that have failed, I think that has a purpose that brings me to this time. So that I can get my title. This is my position. I will get it.”
When asked if this would be a bigger moment than when he previously won the Oktagon MMA title from David Kozma, Brito joked [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“Yes, for me this is very special. Much more special because of some personal things I’ve been through and to have this, another chance to fight for the title, is much more special… I can talk about everything, but what I can say here is that I really want to stop fighting. I lost the fight; I didn’t want to continue, but because of some people who haven’t done good things in my personal life. But now I’m back. I’m excited and I’m going to fight.”
When asked what helped him reconnect with his internal fire as a hunter, Brito responded [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“I think God is helping me get back on the track. When I saw it, I wanted more than I ever knew.”
Kaik Brito sees regaining the Oktagon MMA belt and rematching Ion Surdu
Kaik Brito is competing for this title after a first-round finish at Oktagon 73, and when reflecting on his win in his last fight in June, Brito said [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“I’m happy I got that first-round win. But now it’s a different time. I’m not looking at the past, I’m looking at the future. I want the belt and I’m going to take the belt because I think it’s mine.”
When asked how far into the future he sees and what goals he wants to achieve, Brito responded [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“Looking to the future, I really wanted to fight again [Ion] Surdu. I did well in battle. I was better, but it just wasn’t my day. So I wanted to fight him again. I wanted to fight Surdu again in the future.
