Fed Governor Lisa Cook is fighting to keep her job while fighting mortgage fraud against Doj and Trump-from-era.
Only a few days after the Governor of the Federal Reserve Lisa Cook has unveiled Planes to sue the command of Donald Trump for her removal, the Ministry of Justice has opened an investigation into alleged mortgage fraud that has been linked to her.
An anonymous source on 4 September made public Information about the summons of the summons issued in a probe in Cook, after a criminal referral from the best home regulator of the nation, AP Reports. The investigation comes in the midst of Cook’s legal struggle for the step of Trump to expel her last month, an action that she claims is his attempt to exercise political control over the traditionally independent central bank that determines interest rate policy.
“Predictable and recognizing the defects in challenging their illegal dismissal by Governor Cook, the administration is putting on to find new justifications for the over range,” said Cook’s lawyer, Abbe David Lowell, in a statement. “This Ministry of Justice – perhaps the most politized in American history – will do what President Trump demands.”
Appointed by President Joe Biden, Cook made History in 2023 as the first black woman who served on the Federal Reserve Board of Directors, with a period that lasts until 2038. The probe in its stems from allegations of Trump appointed Bill Pulte, who accused Cook of committing mortgage fraud that was linked to two property she bought in 2021 prior to her FED appointment. Pulte claims that Cook claimed an Ann Arbor, Michigan, Home and an Atlanta, Georgia, at home and primary homes to obtain more favorable loan conditions, because second houses or rental homes usually have to deal with higher mortgage interest.
The investigation is led by Ed Martin, head of the working group of the Ministry of Justice, in coordination with American law firms. Martin also supervises mortgage fraud in two of Trump’s democratic critics, Senator Adam Schiff from California and attorney -general Letitia James in New York, both of which deny misconduct.
In the meantime, Pulte has avoided questions about whether he applies the same study on Trump Ally Ken Paxton, the attorney -general of Texas and Senate candidate, who made mortgages on three property, all mentioned as his primary residence.
The day that the probe was announced, the Ministry of Justice asked a federal judge in Washington to allow the immediate removal of Cook and to reject her claim that Trump tries to grasp control of the Federal Reserve as ‘unfounded’. Cook’s lawyers resisted that her shooting was illegal and noted that Fed Governors can only be rejected “for cause”, usually defined as inefficiency, duty destruction or misconduct during his office. They claimed that she was denied a hearing and an opportunity to respond and claim that she never had mortgage fraud.
In the meantime, economists warn that allowing the White House to exert control of the Federal Reserve, can politicize the decisions of the interest rates, so that the loan costs remain lower to meet Trump’s agenda. The case could mark a crucial moment for the 112-year history of the FED, which was built on the independence of political pressure to protect his ability to protect difficult economic calls, such as increasing the rates to curb inflation.
