The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is developing an online system called ‘Ebaki’ for the sale of expired number plates, Declared Reports. The system will be developed under the JPJ Digital System Development project, says the report of the Auditor General (LKAN) 3/2025 on the financial statements of the government.

The report also reveals that JPJ RM1.648 has collected billion from the sale of number plates from 2022 to 2024, and that as blocked and inactive figures were offered at a minimum price, an estimated RM115.96 million could at least be collected further.
There were 375,792 unsold numbers and 134 blocked numbers offered at the minimum price from 2024, which could generate an estimated extra turnover of at least RM112.73 million and RM795.150 respectively, according to the report.
It added that of the 219 applications for recovering registration numbers, 12 approved applications, only an RM10 service costs were charged compared to a possible RM23.100 in income as sold at the minimum price (RM300-RM20,000 based on the current, interesting and premium category The balance sheet number (remaining numbers) was not uniform between the state of JPJs.
The report ordered that JPJ offers inactive figures to the public and locked the minimum price in accordance with the established categories via mysicap for more publicity, and the standard operational procedures and the special committee for registration numbers authorized to ensure that the maximum income is collected and to prevent the leakage of profit.
