Manchester United had to settle for a point from their previous Premier League match against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday.

Despite taking the lead in the first half, United capitulated within five minutes of the restart, with Diogo Dalot making the mistake for the second.

Ruben Amorim needed a goal to equalize and surprisingly chose not to make any attacking changes, preferring to adjust things at the back.

Amad did score a stunning equalizer, but questions arise as to why the head coach didn’t turn to the likes of Mason Mount or Joshua Zirkzee.

Amorim did not turn to Joshua Zirkzee vs Forest

The Dutchman is yet to start one match this season and has amassed a total of 90 minutes in all competitions. It’s no surprise to hear that the 24-year-old is desperate to leave Old Trafford.

With a view to next year’s World Cup, the ex-Bologna CEO is desperate to make the Dutch national team, and to achieve that he will have to play regularly.

Amorim doesn’t want him to leave, and once Amad and Bryan Mbeumo leave for AFCON, there’s a possibility his minutes will increase.

But according to Sky Sports SwitzerlandJoshua Zirkzee has asked his entourage to arrange a loan for him during the January transfer window.

There is interest from the Premier League, but a return to Italy makes sense given his record in that competition. And AC Milan have joined AS Roma in the race for United’s number 11.

Interestingly, a temporary return to Serie A would require a pay cut for the versatile forward as Italian sides cannot match the amount he currently earns in Manchester.

Zirkzee wants to leave in January

“The Manchester United striker has signed for a significant fee and is unhappy under Ruben Amorim, where he is getting little playing time. Having fallen out of favour, the Dutchman has already told his entourage that they should find him a loan deal in January to revive his career.”

“The Dutchman is an important player for Bologna under Thiago Motta and remains highly regarded in Serie A, where Gian Piero Gasperini’s AS Roma are looking to strengthen their attack. The Giallorossi are very active in pursuing him and have already started discussions with Zirkzee’s agents to reach a salary deal.”

“Given his substantial achievements in Manchester, the striker will have to make an effort and has already indicated that he is willing to take a pay cut to revive his career. AC Milan are also interested in him and are monitoring Zirkzee’s situation and could join the race for his signature in the next transfer window.”

After meeting with the Dutch international, INEOS reportedly told him and Kobbie Mainoo that all loan applications will be blocked.

Whether anything has changed behind the scenes or whether there will now be permanent offers, only time will tell.
