Josh Tongue insists that England is ‘pretty cooled’ in the prospect of Big Run Chase

After winning the first test by successfully surpassing a target of 371 in Leeds, England will try to win the last and with it by having to chase 374 in The Oval. If the statisticians and bookmakers do not feel like their chances, the team itself is not only self -confident, but also “cooled” about the task with which they are confronted on day four.

“It is a repeat of Headingley,” said Josh Tongue. “It will be a great day of cricket and a great day for us when we get the runs. How we play as a batting unit is very positive and very exciting. The batting we have, I can’t see why we can’t give it right. We are quite cooled. Not much thinking.

England scored 50 of them during the last session on Saturday for Mohammed Siraj Bowlde Bak Crawley with the last ball of the day, giving the tourists a lift in their pursuit of a victory that would bind the series to 2-2.

“We really have confident,” said their second-innings Centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal. “We just have to concentrate on our process and keep bowling in the right areas. That is what we think. There is always movement in the wicket, swing movement and seam movement. It’s not so easy to turn.”

With Chris Woakes from action because of the shoulder injury he sustained on the opening day, the three remaining sailors of England had to bear a great burden on the second innings of India. Tong Tong took five wickets in his 30 overs to complete the series with 19 – England’s best count, and from just three games – while Gus Atkinson and Jamie Overton respectively 27 and 22 Bowden.

“It would be clearly difficult for our bowlers, but I thought we were very good,” Tongue said. “I feel that sometimes I couldn’t bowlen as well as possible, especially on the first day here, but I am clearly very chuffed to get the wickets.”

The 118 of Jaiswal was the 19th century of a series that has seen a lot of extraordinary batting, but the only one so far in this competition, while shared a partnership of 107 – again, the only one in this game that reached triple figures – with India’s Nightwatchman, Akash Deep, who was 66, “words, words,”.

“He played very well, played shots and defended very well. I just thought about how we can build the partnership as long as we can,” said Jaiswal. “So we enjoyed it and we had a lot of fun.

“It is very important for all of us that we continue to push ourselves and this was our last innings here. I had to keep pushing. My mentality is always like this: think positive and go for my photos – but if the situation requires something else, I will also enjoy it.
