NHL Rumors: St. Louis Blues are open for business
Host: “Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas, the likelihood that they will both leave St. Louis, I will make it easier for everyone between now and October 2026.”
Dave Pagnotta: “Well, look at the prices. The price is very high. Astronomical, as one team told me before Thomas. Maybe that’s just because the Blues don’t like anything on their team, and it’s not going to work. But some teams that have shopped around were told, No, it’s not going to work with you, because we don’t see the pieces.”
Like I said, I think one of the two definitely won’t be there next year. I would be very surprised if Kyrou is on that Blues team next season. As for Thomas, they want a King’s Ransom, and rightly so. And I mean, look, if I’m on a team, including the Habs, I’m pushing for that because he’s a player who can not only play the spot but also contribute on the right side, and certainly a target for the Canadiens.
NHL Rumors: St. Louis Blues and Robert Thomas
I can imagine a player of that caliber, and they have the resources I imagine to do it, it’s just a matter of if they want to. And maybe that changes the overall game plan a little bit. I think Kyrou might be more of a focus because I think I know the prices are lower, but St. Louis listens to almost everyone. And it’s a bit surprising considering Kyrou’s 27, Thomas turns 27 this year, but they have their new plan in place.
They’re going to look at how they can move guys, and that includes (Brayden) Schenn, (Justin) Faulk, Mathieu Joseph and others. But we’ll see what happens there in the end. But for the long-winded answer, I apologize, but I think Kyrou won’t be in St. Louis next year, and Thomas, it’s just a matter of which team would step up with what would have to be an astronomical kind of deal.
NHL Rumors.com Note: The St. Louis blues remain available to everyone at their prices. This has been the case for Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou since last season. You can add Brayden Schenn also in that mix. Current GM Doug Armstrong always tried the same messaging tactic, making his players available but never trading them. It feels like the Blues can now say goodbye to these young players. However, they have control over where they want to go.
