Jon Jones issues a fiery statement after the charges have fallen in the hit-and-run case
Posted in a recent statement on XJones responded to the statement.
“I want to start thanking the office of the public prosecutor for carefully revising the facts and ultimately justifying myself,” Jones began.
“I have always believed in the interest of truth and fairness, and I am grateful that the evidence has spoken for itself. The simple fact is this: I was never there. I never left my house that night, and all the proof proved that.
“In this case there was a hurry to judge before real evidence was collected. I understand that, in the court of public opinion, the allegations may seem credible, especially in view of my earlier errors. But by the time these claims were made public, I was just retired by the competition. And that moment was stolen from me that false accusations made it to be a false.”
“I sincerely hope that this person will be held responsible by Albuquerque’s law enforcement. They have not only disrupted my retirement, but have also made our police negligent in the process. It is deeply disturbing that, in today’s world, a single false accusation can take so much from someone before any evidence is even considered.”
Jones chose to hang his UFC gloves after a seven-month-old hiatus from the competition. Negotiations for a fight between Jones and Tom Aspinall got stuck this summer, despite the repeated guarantees of Dana White.
Jones has since turned his retirement and focuses on an octagonal return to the White House next summer.
