Boise, Idaho-de Idaho Steelheads, Echl branch of the Dallas Stars, announced that the club defender Jake Johnson and Vooruit Jordan Steinmetz signed for contracts for the 2025-26 season.
Johnson starts his third professional season, first with the Steelheads, after he had taken over by Idaho on 20 June from Tahoe who completed future considerations deal that Slava Demin sent to the Knight Monsters earlier in the season. The 27-year-old produced 21 points (4G-17a) in 61 games with the Knight Monsters last year. During the 2023-24 campaign as Rookie, he skated in 43 games with the Fort Wayne Komets who recorded 19 points (3G-16a). The resident of Bloomington, Minnesota made his pro-debut with Fort Wayne at the end of the 2022-23 season and scored two goals in three games.
Prior to his professional hockey, Johnson helped the Quinnipiac University to the NCAA National Championship in 2023, where he skated in 39 games with 15 points (4G-11a). He spent the previous three seasons at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, appeared in 107 career competitions and collected 30 points (3G-27a). He played parts of two seasons in the United States Hockey League of 2016-18 with the Sioux Falls Stampede and Cedar Rapids Roughriders.

Steinmetz starts his second professional season, first with Idaho, after counting 42 points (25g-17a) that helps the Snackpoint-Eters Limburg of the Central European Hockey League with a competition championship. The 26-year-old played his last season of collegial hockey on Minnesota State University during the 2023-24 campaign that served as an alternative captain and 11 points in 32 games (2G-9a). The Chippewa Falls, resident of Wisconsin, played his first four seasons at St. Lawrence University of 2019-23 and served as a team captain during his senior season that ended his four-year career with 35 points (16G-19A) in 122 career games.
Prior to collegial hockey, Steinmetz played in the USHL with the Sioux City Musketeers during the 2018-19 campaign with 26 points (8G-18A) in 60 games. He noted 19 points (9G-10A) in 55 games with the Janesville Jets of the North American Hockey League the season before.
