Ipswich Town travel to South Wales on Saturday as Kieran McKenna’s men look to continue their improving form against Swansea City.

Ipswich Town are aiming to extend their unbeaten run to four games after a tough start to return to the Championship. A 1-1 draw with Watford in midweek ended their winning streak at two, but ITFC will hope to return from Wales with three points on Saturday.

Kieran McKenna’s side have climbed into the top half of the table after a positive recent run of results and are just three points behind in the play-offs. After last season’s disappointing Premier League campaign, the boss will be setting his sights on getting the Tractor Boys back into the top flight.

Their hosts Swansea City have struggled for consistency, winning just two of their last ten games.

Alan Sheehan’s side will look to gain some momentum and avoid the relegation zone.

Ipswich Town team news

Speaking to the media Ahead of Wednesday night’s match, Kieran McKenna provided an update on Leif Davis, who was forced off with a tight hamstring during last weekend’s 4-1 win over QPR. The left-back missed the midweek draw with Watford and remains a doubt for the trip to Swansea

“He hasn’t trained yet. He will be assessed tomorrow,” McKenna told the press.

“There’s no big problem, it’s just a matter of doubt whether he will have any involvement on Saturday.”

There were no other further injury concerns for Ipswich Town, but there are some persistent absences. Wes Burns, Alex Palmer and Sammie Szmodics are all still injured.

Burns has moved closer to a return after suffering a cruciate ligament injury against Liverpool at the end of January. The Welshman is starting to rejoin the squad as he gets back into contention.

Predicted XI

(4-2-3-1)

Walton; Furlong, O’Shea, Kipre, Johnson; Matusiwa, Cajuste; Egeli, Akpom, Philogene; Hirst

Ipswich Town are expected to remain unchanged from their midweek draw against Watford, with Davis likely to miss as he recovers.

Christian Walton will remain in goal in place of the injured Palmer, while the back line of Darnell Furlong, Dara O’Shea and Cedric Kipre will remain intact. Ben Johnson will continue to play on the left.

Marcelino Nunez and Jack Taylor will also push for starts in midfield, with both starting against QPR before missing out on the draw against Watford.

Further forward, Jack Clarke could be brought into the team to create some extra threat. He has scored five in 13 this season despite limited starts.

Chuba Akpom is still searching for his first goal for ITFC after ten appearances but is expected to retain his role behind George Hirst.

The match between Ipswich Town and Swansea City starts on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
