Johni Broome underwent a partial meniscectomy on Saturday for a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee.
The Philadelphia 76ers rookie is expected to be re-evaluated in four weeks as part of his recovery process.
Broome, selected with the 35th pick in the 2025 draft, suffered the injury last Saturday while playing for the Delaware Blue Coats in a G League game.
After weighing several treatment options, he ultimately opted for surgery aimed at repairing the meniscus instead of removing it.
The 23-year-old center/power forward played in 11 limited games for Philadelphia this season, but played a key role at Delaware.
In 26 G League appearances, he averaged 21.8 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.2 steals over 32.8 minutes per game, shooting .463 from the field, .287 from three-point range and .656 at the free-throw line.
Broome, a former standout at Auburn, signed a standard four-year contract with Philadelphia.
His $2.15 million salary for next season is fully guaranteed, while his $2.5 million salary for 2027-28 is not guaranteed, and the Sixers have a team option of $2.7 million for the 2028-29 season.
