Joao Pedro: I was afraid of meeting Chelsea ‘Superstar’ Palmer – Football News

Joao Pedro admits that he was initially afraid of meeting “Superstar” Colmer when he came to Chelsea in July.

The Brazilian attacker joined Enzo Maresca’s Blues from Brighton and Hove Albion halfway through the World Cup club and hit the ground.

He scored three goals in the same number of Club World Cup matches, including one in the final, and has just found it twice and has so far given two assists in three Premier League matches.

Palmer has made a name for himself in Chelsea after two brilliant seasons, scored 37 goals and registers 19 assists in 70 league matches for the blues.

After their clubworld cup success in the United States, Joao Pedro is determined to win more silverware alongside Palmer.

“Cole is a superstar,” Joao Pedro told The Standard.

“When I came to Chelsea, I was a bit scared about how he would respond because I was the most important man in Brighton.

“I knew that Chelsea would be different. I said,” Cole, I’m here to help you. “

“He knows I can help him, and I know he can help me. We have good chemistry on the field; I think he feels the same. Together we can win more titles for Chelsea.

“Cole doesn’t like talking, but we talk about how good the season can be when we join. When I came to the US, he asked me how many goals I would score this season.

“I sometimes call him. After he hadn’t played with West Ham, I sent him the next day. We have a very good relationship.”

Chelsea were not the only Premier League team to invest in the striker position, with Arsenal signing Viktor Gyokeres, Liverpool adding Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike, Manchester United bringing in Benjamin Sesko, Tottenham acquiring Randal Kolo Muani on loan and Newcastle United spending big on Nick Woltemade.

Joao Pedro enjoys the chance to fight those players for the Golden Boot, with the Ballon d’Or his long -term individual goal.

“Big clubs from England have brought the best attackers from Europe this summer. It will be interesting to compete with them for the Golden Boot,” Joao Pedro added.

“One day it would be a dream to win the balloon d’Or. I believe in myself. Everything is possible. Maybe it can happen.

‘It’s too early to say if we’re going to win it [the Premier League] Or not. But if you look at us, you will say that we have a good chance. I agree.

“When we have won the Premier League and Champions League, it will be a top season. And if you win titles, you can be a legend.”
