Jim Carrey loaded his vast Brentwood house with a big discount.
The house of the 63-year-old actor of more than two decades finally left the market last week at $ US17 million ($ A26 million), The real deal reported.
The deal came after more than two years of a million dollar price reductions and one failed sale during the most recent California nature fire season.
The compound of Carrey was first mentioned for $ 28.9 million ($ A44.2 million) at the beginning of 2023. The “Dumb and Dumber” star said earlier that he no longer spent much time in the 2 -hectare residence.
The final sale of $ 17 million marks a discount of 41 percent of the original listing price of the Ranch Home.
During the listing period, Carrey dropped the price of the mansion several times, first up to $ US26.5 million ($ A41.8 million), then to $ US23.95 million ($ A37.8 million), and again up to $ US21.9 million ($ A34.5 million) in May 2024.
Another reduction in September 2024 saw the price fall to $ US19.75 million ($ A31.1 million).

Despite the steep price reductions and losses sustained by the steep ‘mansion tax’ by Los Angeles, Carrey still made a nice win on his old house. The comic actor dropped $ 3.8 million (a $ 5.81 million) on real estate in 1994. His purchase came on the heels of his breakout success in “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective”, together with “Dumb and Dumb” and “The Mask” – all released that same year. And hits like “Liar Liar” and “The Truman Show” would follow soon.
The house from the 1950s is located in Brentwood, one of the most desirable neighborhoods of Los Angeles. It has a style from the middle of the century with modernized facilities, including a tennis court, a waterfall pool, a yoga and meditation area and an Art Deco cinema-included popcorn concession.
The 11,000 square foot stay includes a total of five bedrooms and nine bathrooms, as well as six fireplaces.

The richly appointed real estate almost left the market in December. The house was under contract with an already discovered $ 19.8 million asking price, but the deal did not come out. It is possible that negotiations were influenced by the growing threat of forest fires at that time.
Carrey’s Brentwood -house avoided a direct hit of the fires that flared through Los Angeles in January.
The approximately two and a half year sales come in an uncertain period before Carrey’s career. The actor recently played as Dr. Robotnik in “Sonic the Hedgehog 3”, but has been open about his provisional plans for retirement from Hollywood.
In the years since finding acting success in the nineties, according to various reports, the “The Grinch” star gained an estimated net earth of around $ US180 million.

Jim Carrey played in the Sonic The Hedgehog films in the midst of speculation that he was confronted with money problems.
In a recent interview with Associated Press, Carrey revealed that he had experienced financial problems and admitted that they had become so serious, he had to withdraw his plans to withdraw from acting and return to the big screen, and explained that his decision to take a different role was almost completely motivated by his “need” for money.
During the British premiere of his last endeavor on the screen, “Sonic the Hedgehog 3”, in which he is his role of the villain Dr. Robotnik displays the legendary actor about why he had chosen to appear in the film, even though he signed up in 2022 that he was preparing for the property.
“You know, I came back to this universe because I can first play a genius. That’s a bit a bit,” he joked before he added more seriously: “And, you know, it’s just that I bought many things, and I need the money, frankly.”

He was later at ComicBook.com that he had never been sure about his retirement, and explained: “You can’t be definitive about these things.
“I said I would retire, but I think I was talking more about” power recovery. ” Because as soon as a good idea comes your way or a group of people with whom you really enjoyed things, it is normal to change things. “
Carrey, who once ruled the cash register with $ US20 million per film prize, had stated two years earlier that he was ‘fairly serious’ about his retirement, adding that only a script that was brought to him by ‘the angels’ and ‘was written in Golden Ink’ would convince him to sign up for another project.
Graham Larson van Sotheby’s International Realty represented Carrey on sale, the Real Deal reported. The still unknown buyer was reputed by Sam Collins, David Parnes and James Harris and Carolwood.
