It hasn’t even been launched yet, but the Jetour T2 already has five ASEAN NCAP stars in the bag. The crash test took place on November 25 at the China Automotive Engineering Research Institute (CAERI) in Chongqing, although ASEAN NCAP says the final assessments were conducted in December “to finalize our 2025 calendar”. Last car tested under the outgoing 2021-2025 protocol? We are now working on the 2026-2030 protocol, which should place more emphasis on ADAS.
The T2, one of two Jetours bound for Malaysia (see the others here), achieved 37.17 out of 40 points for adults, 15.94 out of 20 for children, 17.14 out of 20 for safety assistance and 16.25 out of 20 for motorcyclists, resulting in a total score of 86.5 points.
Crucially, the ASEAN NCAP report reveals some details: Malaysia is listed under ‘other ASEAN production’, suggesting our T2 could be locally assembled (CKD), like the Dashing and VT9 at Berjaya’s Tampoi factory. Also, ‘2’ represents the number of variants, and AEB, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist and automatic high beams are listed as ‘available as optional’. If this is true, it means we will only get ADAS on the top variant.

“Achieving a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating is a significant milestone for the Jetour T2 and a strong validation of its overall technical and safety performance. From its robust body structure to its comprehensive safety systems, the T2 is designed to protect occupants and help drivers avoid collisions.
“As we prepare for the Malaysian launch in the first quarter of 2026, this achievement gives customers added confidence that safety has been built into the T2 from the start,” Fu Yong, CEO of Jetour Auto Malaysia, said in a press release.
Both variants should have six airbags, seat belt reminders for all occupants, rear seat occupant detection, blind spot detection, pedestrian protection, child presence detection and ISOFIX. Can be booked for an estimated RM178,888, Q1 launch, 254PS/390Nm 2.0-litre turbo engine, 7-speed wet DCT – check out the Malaysian-spec Jetour T2 here.
