Jeremy Bond, grandson of late businessman Alan Bond, has sold his Woollahra mansion at auction through TRG founder Gavin Rubinstein.
The Tamsin Johnson-designed five-bedroom residence, with Myles Baldwin-designed gardens and pool, in exclusive Wallaroy Rd, has fetched $14 million, sources say.
Rubinstein was not available to discuss the outcome – today is his birthday, he is 35 – but it is believed auctioneer Damien Cooley had two bidders at Wednesday night’s auction.
No price guide was initially offered, but Rubinstein told buyers before the auction that the guide was $13 million.

Records show the property last traded for $6.77 million in 2017 when Bond, who is married to Olivia Bond, bought the home off-market from Angus Taylor, now the Shadow Treasurer.
The bonds will now move to Carmel, the Mediterranean-style mansion on Albert St, Edgecliff, which was bought through Rubinstein for $28 million in September.
Rubinstein had put Carmel, designed in 1935 by famed architect F. Glynn Gilling for prominent stockbroker Stanley Utz, on the market in April.
Carmel was mentioned by owner Deborah Hopper, wife of noted biotech entrepreneur Paul Hopper.
Their former home on Wallaroy Rd, Wollahra, offered an appreciated north-eastern aspect and traditional formal and informal living and dining spaces.
The couple is now on their way to something bigger and grander.
They bought the Edgecliff mansion Carmel for $28 million through Rubinstein in September.
Carmel was designed in 1935 by renowned architect F. Glynn Gilling.
It showcases traditional 1920s architecture with high ornate ceilings, beautiful lead lights and black and white checkerboard marble and wooden floors.
There is a chef’s kitchen with a top-of-the-line La Cornue oven and gas hob, while patio doors open onto a light-filled atrium that opens onto a picturesque vine-clad courtyard of sandstone entertainers.
The master suite has a travertine ensuite. There is even a separate studio with sauna and ice bath.
The bonds previously belonged to Holdsworth St, Paddington, which sold for $4.3 million in 2017.
Jeremy Bond, 43, would have been just a year old when his late grandfather, Alan, was the chief financier and part of the syndicate that won the America’s Cup in 1983 on the yacht Australia II, ending the US’s 132-year winning streak.
Then Prime Minister, the late Bob Hawke, had famously said: “Any boss who fires someone for not showing up today is a bum.”
