Lauri Markkanen Trade Rumors have been a hot topic for a few weeks now, and as long as he stays with the Utah Jazz, which is expected to struggle despite a potential all-star campaign for him. A team that is mentioned as a potential destination for Markkanen is the Detroit Pistons, which build something special. However, if the jazz and pistons ever talk about trade, there may be a golden asset of the table: Ausar Thompson.

Bill Simmons van de Ringer and Michael Pina discussed the prospect of a potential Markkanse trade on the pistons. Should the two discuss one, Simmons said that if he was the jazz, Thompson would have to be recorded, to which Pina responded by saying that he believes that Thompson is “non -tradable” for him.

Thompson is a rising star in the NBA that played a role in Detroit with his best season since 2008. The most important difference between him and Markkanen is that although it is clear how good and impactful Markkans is at its peak, it is unknown to which Thompson can be completely capable of and can be even higher.

That would make him the ideal target for Utah if they put Markkanen on the table and commercial discussions with Detroit. However, the pistons would probably prefer to add market kanes to their core without sacrificing the electric Thompson in the process.

What would be the best result of a potential trade in Markkans?

Let it first be known that Utah has not entertained this at the moment and said so much. That is how many stock fans have to put in these rumors about Markkans. However, this scenario will only be raised this season, unless Jazz is a playoff team.

If and when the jazz decides to excrete with Markkanen, they will of course not only want a high amount of assets in exchange for Markkans, but also of high quality, whether in the form of a potential cornerstone or in the form of high lottery picks.

Thompson is perhaps a bit too ambitious for Utah to focus on Markkans if he could very well become a franchise player. The sights of Utah are perhaps better determined on a young player who has not shown as much as Thompson or a potentially less prospect.

The jazz currently has more than enough picks in their arsenal, and too many of them may be a problem. That is why a possible trade in Markkans is not as easy as it sounds, even if it were logical.

This is not something Utah is currently thinking about, but if they do that in the near future, they must ensure that they get the right value for Markkans.
