Although it was clear to everyone that this movement would come, the Utah Jazz at least made it officially: they signed the second round Pick John Tonje for a two -way contract. Trading RJ Luis JR for Georges Niang in a matter of that plan, but with Tonje taken care of, remains one question: how does Utah cut the grid down?
The Utah Jazz and no. 53 Pick John Tonje have agreed to a two -way contract, told competition sources @Hoopsype. Tonje was an all-American for the Wisconsin Badgers last season, on average 19.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. pic.twitter.com/5uqH0VCWRD

Tonje sees the last two -way spot from Utah, so in addition to their three two -way places that are now being filled, the Jazz have 16 players on the Roster. The limit for an NBA schedule comes to 15, so somehow the team will have to confront this between occasion.
Some candidates are clearer than others. From the moment he was announced that he had been sent to Utah, it seemed quite clear that Kevin Love would not be a jazzman for a long time. Well, he is technically a jazzman technically for longer than someone could have expected, but that can be because the team waits until he can be traded with another player before connecting the tires.
It is also possible that love might be good to be more an experienced mentor in a young team, but that is not an Intel that confirms that. Anyway, just like Tonje signed his two -way contract, it seems that he will be out of the team in due course.
However, he is not the only one, because it is still ambiguous whether it is planning to keep KJ Martin or not. His contract is not – Gegaaranded, and the Jazz has added or will have recurring front court – pieces – Ace Bailey, Taylor Hendricks, Jusuf Nurkic – that would stand in the way of his playing time.
In a low season where not much exciting is going on (it is August), this creates an intriguing storyline. That’s right, Augustus really lowers the standards for exciting NBA story lines with so much.
It might be more than just one player
Technically, the jazz does not have to go to the 2025-26 season with a complete selection. The minimum number of players that a team can have on the opening evening is 14. It is possible in the best interest of Utah to leave that selection open in case there is still a Niang-like opportunity for them to acquire assets without sacrificing much.
There is nothing wrong with a small cap -flexibility, so it doesn’t matter to whom the jazz decides to separate, they can take advantage of a situation as they just did with the Boston Celtics along the line when they open the season with 14 players on the Roster.
This season it is expected that so many losses will be losses, so what can it hurt in the case of Utah?
