Jazz -fans can only laugh at the fall of Ben Simmons from Grace

Ben Simmons is not, never is and will never be associated with the Utah Jazz. However, he was once a time of the greatest enemies of jazz in the day. That is what it should make it all the more comical for jazz fans to see how far he has fallen for a few years.

Stefan Bondy of the New York Post Reported that Simmons is considering leaving the NBA, despite some interest in free agency.

“Ben Simmons has generated interest from the Knicks and another team, but also wonders if he even wants to keep playing in the NBA next season, has learned the mail.”

Once a triple all-star was driven as a free agent target for jazz, but that was only because of how much his value had fallen over the years. The downfall of Simmons has been shown since 2021 and the jazz has had absolutely nothing to do with it. However, it is remarkable to consider how Simmons was once an indirect problem for Utah.

He defeated Donovan Mitchell for Rookie of the Year in 2018

This was an argument that jazz fans remember very well. While Mitchell was the biggest Rookie -surprise of the NBA, Simmons van de Sprong dominated his Rookie season in Philadelphia. Although many debated about who was better, it was a real controversial subject or Simmons should have been considered a rookie in the beginning.

Simmons was drawn up the year before Mitchell, but missed the season due to a foot injury. That is why there was a big stir or Simmons as a rookie should have been considered. In the end, the voters thought he was, which led him to won the Rookie of the Year Award in 2018.

Although it is not as if it was the biggest deal for Mitchell to lose, he would have been the second Jazz Rookie who won since Darrell Griffith did it in 1981.

He was Rudy Gobert’s stiffest competition for defensive player of the year in 2021

Once upon a time there was a debate about who was the best defender of the NBA between Gobert and Simmons. Their strengths on that side of the floor were apples and oranges, because Gobert is one of the best rim protectors of all time, while Simmons was more of a shutdown perimeter defender.

Just like Mitchell and Simmons three years earlier, this became a heated debate for months, in which many believed that Gobert won only because of the reputation. Fortunately Simmons did not win this, but it remains clear how many Simmons competed with valued jazz alumni for praise.

So to see the career of Simmons that might end after he was ever placed in the same breath as jazz legends and Future Hall of Famers should get a real smile from the fan base.
