The basketball world is waiting for the next Boston Celtics movement.
I hope it doesn’t concern Jayson Tatum.
No, the Celtics are not about to trade Tatum. Depending on how it goes, we might be able to visit that again in a year.
Wait, what?
That’s right. These figures to be an interesting season for the Celtics, one in which far too many people have already written them into them.
It is quite possible that they will prove to be fine, even if Tatum will probably miss after Achilles operation, Jrue Holiday was traded, Kristaps Porzingis actually sold and Al Horford with a foot out of the door.
Heck, their finances are so bad, they couldn’t even keep Luke Kornet.
But Tatum is the key. Everything is almost around him since he was picked from Duke’s bottomless breast of five -star treasures in 2017.
It is difficult to complain when Boston has nine more regular seasonal victories than any other team in that period, and has played 34 more Playoff matches.
That said, you have to ask yourself: if the Celtics with by far more top-end talent than any other team in the competition in recent years-the ball had shared a little more instead of seeing how Tatum would see from banner after banner under the bright lights Talking another dynasty instead of the Thunder.
If nothing else, the coming season could prove that those who believe that the team would be better off without tatum are not just jealous knicks fans. But this will take time to find out.
We caught a glimpse of what the Celtics 2025–26 could look like in the two games after Tatum was injured in Game 4 of the eastern semifinal against New York.
The Celtics looked great during one night. Maybe better than ever. Several boys took it to share in the division of ball, the rebound, the defense … instead of being spectators while Tatum dribbled endlessly between his legs above the top of the key, grew up undisputed rebounds while he didn’t guard anyone and walked the ball away from better error shooters because he was entitled to shoot any technical error.
In other words: they played like a team.
It was Golden State Turn Bay State.
Unfortunately it could not be maintained. The Celtics were ashamed in Game 6 and lived until the expectations that many had made to them once the franchise had been removed.
After we experienced equal parts positive and negative, we were left to conclude … nothing.
The Celtics will undoubtedly delete the Tatum attack next season and actually have time to work out the nodding of a return to mainstream basketball. You are familiar with it.
It features a star player (Jaylen Brown) who actually makes coupling recordings. A huge second option (Derrick White) that can share the spotlights. And-dress this-actual complementary pieces, instead of guys on the circumference and view Tatum 3-Pointers.
Ok, money conversations in the NBA and it has tied up in taxes has led to a very quiet outdoor season in Beantown. If Tatum could only be proclaimed for the season and his money used on another player, which could actually happen, but that is also taxable.
So Wishful Thinking goes pouf.
We have been left with a reality that doesn’t sound that much. But Anfernee Simons gives them a better option on the third score than before; JD Davison is – get this – a real point guard; Jordan Walsh (all defense) and Baylor Scheierman (all attack) are a nice tag team; And Georges Niang, if nothing else, is meant to treat Brown as if he really exists.
And don’t forget: Payton Pritchard may be the same award -winning role.
You don’t have to worry about when Porzingis returns from his last injury, and … the Celtics have done good work by developing young talent (see Aaron Nesmith, Javonte Green and Guerschon Yabusele), so maybe it’s time to go out with the old (vacation and Horford) and in the new.
It can actually work in the Eastern Conference, where the Top team (Cleveland) has to interrogate, his new SCHEPRIVISH (New York) has opted for a nice coach over a winner, and nobody else matters.
If Atlanta, to cry out loud, get a chance, you know that the door will remain wide open for the Celtics to surprise …
As long as Tatum does not play. Or even try to play.
The last thing this rejuvenated team needs is in-game texts from Tatum to the temporary employment team, so that they remind us that this is his team and he will soon come back to make it.
Myth As he is known in some circles, must follow in the selfless Tyrese Haliburton direction and take the full season, giving the unjust talent a chance to develop a new identity and see what works best.
You know that there are daily updates about social media on Tatum. They are already there. Annoying, yes. But perhaps not a bad thing in the long term (as long as it is clear: no comeback this season).
Because if this new Everything-Can-Shoot-AT approach works, the Celtics can already be eastern favorites in the 2026–27 season.
Depending on how much they could get for a fresh and healthy tatum in a transaction next summer.
