Ozone Park, NY – Head of Plains Partners’ in-house breeder in New York Jaxer found an inside seam in the last sixteenth to take the victory in the $125,000 Notebook, a mile-long indoor grass route for state-bred youngsters, at Aqueduct Racetrack.

Trained by Graham Motion, the son of Slumber contributes to a final third-place finish at a local 1 1/16-mile State-bred Virgin, where he pushed the pace and rode home a 1 3/4-length winner under returning rider Flavien Prat. Jaxer showed a new dimension in the Notebook, moving up from seventh in the early stages to take the score one length over the next Caroline St Beat.

Jaxer came from post 6 of 10 and was behind as the sharp starter Spirit of New York was quickly overtaken by Rotating loadwho surged forward and tucked in from the outside post 10 to mark an opening quarter mile over the sturdy base in 23.31 seconds with Truman’s order move to second position.

Positions remained largely unchanged on the backstretch, with the field in an orderly line as Prat patiently completed a half-mile of 48.17. Funny factor was then asked for his run from fourth entering the corner and began a three-wide rally in pursuit of a stubborn Twirling Lad.

Jaxer was still in the middle of the pack through three quarters in 1:13.26, but began to make up ground as he passed the chute while following Caroline St. Beat’s run until that rival chose to swerve as Spirit of New York found a seam on the inside of the pacer.

Spirit of New York took a small lead and passed the eighth post, but there was still enough space available on the inside for Prat to send his attack with all the speed down the inside. Caroline St. Beat loomed large as she charged through the center of the course, but Jaxer proved superior on the rail as he cruised to victory in a final time of 1:36.87.

“I thought there was enough room for two horses,” Prat said of his inner movement in the stretch. “I felt comfortable the whole way. He traveled well the whole way. I was able to save ground, and we got to the stretch and it seemed like the other horses swerved a little bit and I was able to go through. He was very professional today.”

Caroline St. Beat finished a nose better than Funny Factor as that pair defeated Spirit of New York in the final jumps. spinning boy, chummers, Tim and Sam, CristobalTruman’s Commander and Attorney Mason completed the order of finishing. Top Player, who only competed on the main song, was scratched.

Manny Franco, aboard Miguel Clement’s favorite trainee Caroline St. Beat, said the son of Tiz the Law will likely benefit from what was his second career start following a debut win in August at Saratoga Race Couse.

“I had the trip I wanted,” Franco said. “I wanted to gain ground in the first corner and from three-eighths to quarter-pole I just wanted to get a clear run. He responded well, but he probably needed one.” [a race].”
