Jannik Sinner officially launched the Jannik Sinner Foundation on Thursday evening at an event in Milan, where more than 100 guests gathered to celebrate the initiative. The foundation will focus on empowering children through sport.
“I was lucky to pursue my passion through tennis, but I know that millions of children never get the chance to follow their dreams because they don’t have access to school,” said the number 2 player in the PIF ATP ranking list, Sinner, on stage. “Here are tonight, I see that the project is finally alive and we are ready to help children realize their dreams.”
The foundation announced its first partnerships in both education and sport. It will collaborate with the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), the world’s largest fund that focuses on improving training in countries with a lower income, as well as Südtirol Sporthilfe, a non-profit from the home region of Sinner that supports young athletes through financing, mentoring and development.
Laura Frigenti, CEO of GPE, welcomed the collaboration: “We are honored that the first major initiative of the Sinner Foundation is a three -year partnership with GPE. The vision and global influence of Jannik Sinner brings a new momentum and visibility to the educational cause. Together we can help millions of marginalized children.”
The foundation will be led by an experienced board of directors, including the old manager Alex Vittur of Sinner as president, Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali and former Apple CFO Luca Maestri. Director Christina Tauber will supervise daily operations.
“Education multiplies possibilities, opening doors and opportunities that forms of individual lives, communities and economies,” Tauber said. “Because of the foundation we want to expand the same possibilities everywhere to children. Supporting GPE is a powerful first step in that mission, and working with Südtiroler Sporthilfe enables us to give back to the community that Jannik’s own journey has formed.”
