James Reimer is released Lyrics With the Toronto Maple Leafs. According to Darren Dreger van TSN: “He wants to see or other opportunities come forward.” The news comes after the decision of the Leafs to release Cayden Primeeau on Monday.
The Maple Leafs have released J James Reimer from his professional try -out (PTO).
– Leafs PR (@LEAFSPR) October 6, 2025
Reimer returned to the team and signed a professional try -out in the midst of the personal leave of Joseph Woll. Reimer entered Detroit halfway through a previous season match and stopped 24 of 28 shots, with all the goals that could come to the Power Play or with an extra attacker. He said he felt good about his game after nine years away from the Leafs, and called it “nice to turn on the sweater again.”
With Anthony Stolarz, the goal congregation group of Toronto and Dennis Hildreby also expected to be in the mix, Reimer realized that there was probably not much of a path to see NHL games in Toronto. He is still looking to register somewhere, hoping that a chance of another NHL selection will be opened.
As for how much everyone knew that the release was there, head coach Craig Berube said Monday after Reimer was not in practice: “That is still in the air. I don’t have much to say about that. He doesn’t have time. I mean, he has half a match … that will play himself now”
Whatever the release motivated, Reimer goes on and will try out his happiness with another organization, assuming that you will give him a look this season.
