Few players generated as much excitement as Jalen Green on the Media Day of the Phoenix Suns’ 2025-26, and with good reason. The 23-year-old was the best player who returned the franchise in the Kevin Durant who exchanged this season outside of season, although Dillon Brooks might have something to say about that by the end of this coming season.
Elite offensive talent is hard to find in the competition, and Green has the opportunity to go on a certain night 30. There is a matter that this may not always happen in the most efficient way, and that he is not a winning player in view of the willingness of the Houston Rockets to send him, is also persistent.
Green got the chance to run the show in Houston after the last injury news.
Just as intriguing as the obvious talent that Green has, is exactly how he and Devin Booker will co -exist in the valley, with both open for time as de facto point guard. We know from earlier experience that this will probably not work, and it is not the best use of one of their talents.

The rockets recently received a number of devastating injuries news before the season even started, with Point Guard Fred Vanvlete down with a torn ACL. The 31-year-old was the perfect floor general for a selection with Durant, Alps Sengun and Amen Thompson, with his undersized frame that was perfectly hidden by those teammates.
On the other side of the court, he would have brought order and stability – and if Green had still been to the rockets – that chance would certainly have gone to him after this injury. He had small doses in the past, but this would have been the chance to really show what he could do.
In contrast to trying to make it work next to Booker, Green would have a much more balanced and ready to win a group around him, which would have been fascinating to see developing. You do not place 38 on the Golden State Warriors in a play -off game without having anything to you, but Green the Playmaker and provider is not something that we have often seen so far.
We will never know what that could have looked like, and instead it is the suns that get the last smile here. Green could hit the ground as a floor general in the valley, so booker could in turn do his thing off the ball. That is an optimistic way to look at this coming season – but just when the rockets could have done with Green to fill in – they let him go.
