From December 6 to March 8, the exhibition event promoted by the Pastoral Community and the Madonna del Rosario Cultural Association, in collaboration with the Municipality of Lecco, will showcase the Venetian artists whose work marked the beginning of the Renaissance in Venice.
The title of this edition, curated by Giacomo Alberto Calogero from the University of Bologna, which presents to the public three masterpieces housed in as many galleries, is “Family Lexicon. The Bellini Workshop and the Beginnings of the Renaissance in Venice”. An opportunity for an in-depth study of family relationships within a “workshop” in the height of the Renaissance in Venice.
The Madonna and Child by Jacopo Bellini from the Tadini Academy Gallery in Lovere, the Madonna and Child by Giovanni Bellini, dating from the artist’s very first production between 1450 and 1460 and kept in the Malaspina Pinacoteca in Pavia. Finally the Birth of the Virgin from the workshop of Jacopo Bellini with the direct involvement of his sons Giovanni and Gentile, founded around 1465, will be loaned by the Galleria Sabauda of the Royal Museums of Turin.

These works, created in a relatively short time, allow us to explore the influence that the lessons of his father Jacopo had on his two sons Giovanni and Gentile, but also the stimuli that the two young people gave to their parents’ art. The installation is the result of the creative interpretation of Giorgio Melesi, who designed a layout focused on the contrasts of light and colors. From past to present. The exhibition also includes some testimonials from contemporary artisanal family businesses specialized in clay, wood and iron working. An opportunity for discussion between generations that, as in the case of the Bellinis, emphasizes and improves the transmission of knowledge and art.
