Jack Draper, the British No. 1, is excluded for the rest of the season with the arm injury that forced him to withdraw from the US Open.
Draper said: “Unfortunately, the injury to my arm is something that I have to rest and means that I will sit for the rest of 2025. It is very difficult for me to accept because I was building an incredible momentum this year and played some great things.
“But I have experienced this before and I always come back stronger because I am so motivated to fulfill my potential as a player. Thank you very much to everyone who supports me to do it right and support me on my journey. I can’t wait to go back and give it everything.”
Draper, the World No 7, has had to deal with pain in his arm since the Clay Court season. After his second round of defeat at Wimbledon, medical tests found that Draper had suffered from bone button in his left arm, who forced him out of operation between Wimbledon and the US Open for seven weeks.
On his return to New York, Draper said that he was initially excluded for eight weeks and had walked ahead with a week. After participating in the mixed doubles event and winning his four-set opening round competition, the Brit was forced to withdraw for the second round when the pain in his arm was intensified.
Draper will not undergo surgery and the injury is the same problem that forced him after Wimbledon from the Tour, but his team has decided to be careful.
It is an important blow to Draper, who has performed at such a high level this year and has positioned itself as one of the best players in the world behind Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
After his breakthrough of the US Open Semi-Final last year, Draper won his first ATP Masters 1000 title in Indian Wells in March, beating Alcaraz in the semi-final, and then he reached the Madrid Open final in May. Before this injury, Draper was on a new career -high ranking of No. 4 and it was expected to qualify for the ATP final for the first time.

Physical problems plagued the draper during his career. His early development was hampered by various injuries and physical disorders, including a shoulder injury that forced him to miss Wimbledon in 2023. His first healthy season in 2024 had enabled him to fulfill his potential, but he will now have to bounce back from another painful setback.
