The Maxwell Award, who honors the top player in College Football, announced a previous season Award watch list list on Monday.
Two IU football players – broad recipient Elijah Sarratt and Quarterback Fernando Mendoza – are on the list.

Bloomington, IND. To the excellent player in the University Football, the Maxwell Award announced its preseason watch list for the prize with Indiana Voetbal Quarterback Fernando Mendoza and broad recipient Elijah Sarratt each of the 80-player Contingent.
Indiana is one of the 16 programs with multiple student athletes on the preview of the watch list. The semi -finalists will be announced on November 11 and the three finalists for the Maxwell Award will be revealed on November 25. The winner of the 89th Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 11.
With 20 career matches played and 19 Starts for three seasons in Cal, Mendoza was the number 14 general prospect in the Transfer Portal and no. 3 Quarterback per 247Sports for the 2025 cycle. He ended his career at Cal as the all-time leader in completion percentage (66.4%) and brought to number 7 in 250-Yard-passing competitions (10). His 2024 season only produced the ninth 3000-Yard pass season in Cal History (3,004 Yards) and a berth in the Las Vegas Bowl.

The Maxwell Award is a member of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA), which includes the most prestigious prizes in university football. The 25 prizes of the NCFAA have honored more than 900 recipients since 1935. This season, 12 NCFAA Awards will honor national players of the week every Tuesday.
