Friedman: “Well, Rick, it was nice to be a guest in the show. You know, I just think it’s pretty clear that this year is all about, you know, just try to keep the noise low and just keep the news against the ice.

You know, as you look at it, as we arrive this year, despite your efforts on Friday on the radio, there are not many large contract debates this year. For me this year is all about the ice. And you know, what happens? I think the storylines are of course, what does (Thatcher) Demko look like? Do you know, is he ready? Is he ready to go? Does he remain healthy? That is clearly a huge start to their season.
You know what do the Canucks do in the middle? Internally they think they have a hole there, but if you don’t have a willing trading partner, I mean, the biggest thing that has been a challenge in the competition is that you really have one team that says this year, saying that they are not trying to get better, and that is Pittsburgh. Unlike that, everyone wants to compete. There are not many trading partners.
And you know, I think the other this year, Rick, is that there is a lot talking about the play -off cap, but that double retention that teams that are close to the cap will really hurt. The fact that you cannot do double at the moment, if you are going to do a double retention, the second exchange must take 75 days after the first place.
