It wasn’t … Jaire Alexander or Bust

The Minnesota Vikings missed Jaire Alexander last week when he signed with the Baltimore Ravens. It could have been a nice footnote on the packers to Vikings Trail, but perhaps Minnesota was never even interested.

The Minnesota Vikings did not have to be completely on Jaire Alexander, and their cornerback options are still extensive if they want to add.

However, it was not only Jaire Alexander or bust for the Vikings. Last season the secondary seemed to be an important problem, and as the regular season came close, they concluded a deal with Stephon Gilmore. If it can be assumed that veteran Shaq Griffin was an addition to the lines of Isaiah Rodgers, then there can still be a movement that still has to be made.

There are a handful of high -quality veteran options that is still on the open market. Names like Mike Hilton, Rasul Douglas and Kendall Fuller are all on the higher side of the spending options. Of course Minnesota was able to pick up the phone and also call one of their deceased veterans. Then there is a trade option and a splash that is as big as Jalen Ramsey.

For now, however, none of those decisions must be taken immediately. The Vikings will open the training camp later this summer and the schedule movements will have to be made. Brian Flores and Kevin O’Connell can continue to observe practices and see what they have in the position.

The recurring and unsigned talent will probably not come to the fore as top start options. Byron Murphy Jr. is clearly the cream of the crop, and it is possible that Rodgers can surprise and wear an even greater load. The depth behind them can solidify how important it is to slow down big moments for those types and to grab another option.

Whatever Minnesota decides to do, the lack of a movement for Alexander does not suggest no unwillingness to do anything in the future.

There is still quite a bit of time until the Vikings start their regular season 2025, and you can bet that this team has not won a couple of win-now veterans to stop another shortage.
