Three bad UX stories from just one week that almost brought me a complete collapse.
July 31, 2025
Tl; DR: You would think that we have had more than 30 years to learn and to nail digital user experiences, right? You would think that flawless experiences would now be the rule and not the exception. Right? Right? Shameful, far from, because three recent experiences – which almost let me throw my laptop out of the window – showed me. It is 2025 and absolute Basic usability and UX malfunctions are still everywhere. Why are we in this mess? I have three hypotheses: 1) Companies Chronic Ondervest in UX; 2) Too many “UX professionals” miss real expertise; And 3) Even the talented UX people have little structural strength. The good news: seasoned UX professionals now have the best chance of finding companies that really differentiate on UX while others stubbornly leave this trillion-dollar on the table. If many established companies do not matter UX, it is time to build new ones that do that.

So, ux is dead, isn’t it? At least that is what my LinkedIn, medium and various other feeds try to tell me. And if we are talking about “ux is dead” in the sense of “companies don’t seem to give a flying **** more about UX”, then I have to agree after last week.
