Foreign diplomats are forced to run coverage after Israeli troops had opened fire for a delegation that the city of Jenin toured on the western Jordoever.
Vision shared on social media shows Israeli soldiers who point their weapons in the direction of the diplomats who stood at a boom gate at the Jenin refugee camp.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the incident, labeling a “horrible crime” and said that the delegation of around 25 people “was deliberately directed by Live Fire”.
“The delegation carried out an official mission to observe and assess the humanitarian situation and to document the constant violations committed by the occupied troops against the Palestinian people,” the ministry said in a statement.
“Aiming accredited diplomatic representatives-this full legal protection and immunities under international law Weigh the systematic contempt of the Israeli occupation for the norms and obligations for interstate relationships and underlines the deep-rooted unsuitability with which it continues to work.“
Representatives from Canada, the United Kingdom, Austria, Lithuania, Spain, Turkiye, Uruguay, China, Japan, Romania, Mexico, Egypt, Chile, Morocco, Jordan, South Korea, the Netherlands, Finland, Italy and Germany were present.
The IDF tried to justify the incident.

“As part of the coordination, an approved route was provided to the delegation members, which they had to follow because of the area as an active combat zone,” said it in a statement.
“According to a first investigation, the delegation had deviated from the approved route and entered an area where they were not authorized.
“IDF salutors who are active in the area shot warning shots to distance them. No injuries or damage have been reported.“
It said that senior commanders would speak with the countries represented in the delegation.
“The IDF regrets the inconvenience.”
Jenin has been the center of a large Israel Defense Forces (IDF) military campaign, launched earlier this year.
The IDF said it came up on Palestinian militants and terrorists on the West Bank, but tens of thousands of people were forced to leave the area and hundreds of houses and infrastructure were destroyed by Israeli troops.
The ABC has contacted the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs for comments on the incident, as well as the embassies of the nations involved.
