Hamas terrorists have once again proven that they cannot be trusted to honor peace agreements.

Despite a US-brokered ceasefire that began on October 13, Hamas carried out a deadly attack in Rafah, southern Gaza, launching an anti-tank rocket and sniper fire at IDF forces.

The unprovoked attack killed two Israeli soldiers and wounded three others, breaking the fragile truce and forcing Israel to act in defense of its people.

The Israeli army responded with force and precision, carrying out more than 120 targeted airstrikes on Hamas infrastructure and military positions in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli intelligence has identified and targeted rocket launch sites, weapons storage facilities and command posts used by Hamas to orchestrate attacks on both civilians and soldiers.

These were not random bombings; they were deliberate measures to neutralize an enemy that openly rejects coexistence and thrives on violence.

Predictably, Hamas and its supporters rushed to deny responsibility and accuse Israel of breaking the ceasefire first.

Yet the facts cannot be denied: Hamas initiated the aggression by targeting IDF soldiers, and not the other way around.

This is consistent with their long history of using ceasefires as cover to rearm, regroup and launch further attacks.

For Hamas, a ceasefire is never a commitment to peace; it is a temporary tactic to buy time until the next round of terror.

Reports indicate that at least 23 Palestinians, including some civilians, have been killed in the retaliatory attacks.

While any civilian loss is tragic, the responsibility lies squarely with Hamas.

The terrorist group has embedded its fighters, weapons and tunnels in densely populated neighborhoods such as Al-Zawaida and Al-Bureij, deliberately using innocent Palestinians as human shields.

This cynical strategy not only endangers its own population, but also maximizes propaganda value when Israel exercises its right to defend itself.

In addition to the air campaign, Israel suspended deliveries of humanitarian aid to Gaza, a move intended to pressure Hamas to honor the ceasefire and take accountability for its crimes.

The United Nations immediately warned of a worsening humanitarian crisis, but such warnings consistently miss the heart of the problem: Hamas is diverting fuel, food and medicine intended for civilians to support its terror machine.

Aid without accountability simply strengthens Hamas, while ordinary Palestinians are left in despair.

Israel’s response was not only justified, but necessary. No sovereign nation can allow its soldiers to be killed under the promise of a ceasefire.

Until Hamas is dismantled, peace in Gaza will remain impossible.

Israel has shown restraint time and time again, but when terrorists violate agreements and shed Israeli blood, they must face the consequences.

The events in Rafah prove once again that the obstacle to peace is not Israel’s defense, but Hamas’s commitment to endless war.
