Israel Adesanya recently expressed his candid thoughts on how he wants the final days of his fighting career to unfold.
Adesanya took a break after losing three games in a row. In his last fight, the Nigerian-born Kiwi’s first non-title fight in over five years, he faced Nassourdine Imavov and lost by TKO in round 2.
The 36-year-old had taken some time off to support teammates and reflect, as he stated after Imavov’s loss:
“I need to chill for a while and then think about things. I’m going to relax first, just help the teammates who are fighting, and yeah, see what I want. That’s what I was planning to do anyway, but you know, now I’m forced to do that. Shoutout to Nassourdine for that.”

Israel Adesanya wants to “fight more freely and try some risky things” when he returns
During a recent conversation with Bangtao Muay Thai & MMA, Israel Adesanya was asked if he still wants to regain the UFC Middleweight Championship or would rather fight an entertaining contender like Michael “Venom” Page. In response, ‘The Last Stylebender’ stated that his main goal is no longer winning the Undisputed Title. He wants to fight without fear of losing anything at 36 years old.
“For me, it’s not about the belts anymore. I have two shiny belts at home. It looks good, but I just want to fight. I just want to do things like I did on the way to the belt. I still fought really well when I defended the belt, but I want to fight more freely and try some risky things.”

Fans have been waiting for ‘The Last Stylebender’ to return to the octagon and turn the tide in his favor, especially after Imavov’s loss.
As a two-time UFC middleweight champion with five successful title defenses during his first reign, Adesanya’s legacy has already been cemented. So, as he imagines, a return marked by a few thrilling victories before finally laying down the gloves would be enough to ride off into the sunset knowing he gave the sport his all.
