Is this finally the year for BU Men’s hockey? BHB writers offer 2025-26 predictions

Do you ever wonder how the blog predicts the season? Have you ever wanted to keep us responsible for our predictions? Well, here is your chance. Make a bookmark of this story and come back in April, or come back regularly and check if we do it to see it.

After the men’s hockey of Boston University had made its third frozen four in the same number of years under Jay Pandolfo in 2024-25 and lost in the national championship game of West Michigan, our five writers gave their take the Lot of the Terriers 2025-26.

Will this be the year for the sixth national title of BU? Let’s dive into it:

Eli Cloutier

Regular season record (34 games): 25-8-1

Postseason Finish: Win Programs Sixth National Championship

MVP: Cole Hutson

The most improved: Sascha Boumedienne

Daring forecast: Cole Hutson wins the Hobey Baker Award.

This is the second most talented Terrier team of the Jay Pandolfo era, with only the team of 2023-24. Pandolfo and his staff still missed the frozen four, and this year Roster has the flash and the bones to come back and win everything. North Dakota Transfer Owen McLaughlin is the only senior on the Roster, but even though I am even younger than last season, I have faith in the veteran -backlers of this team. At this point, juniors Gavin McCarthy, Jack Harvey and Aiden Celebrini have been there and did that. The BU Blue Line was missing in depth and size last season, and the coaching staff specifically took on that in the low season, which brought in first -year Carter Amico, Charlie Tretheway and Malte Vass. Offensive, the terriers are probably just as powerful and possibly even more dangerous. With recurring second -year student Cole Eisman and the additions of Fighting Hawks Transfer Sacha Boisvert and first -year Ryder Richie, Jack Murtagh, Conrad Fondrk and Co. Expect to score BU of all four forward lines. Expect this season from the Blue Line more attack from second -year Sascha Boumedienne, which improved as progressed last season. Then there is Cole Hutson. This year he will be in the conversation for the Hobey Baker Award – and because of a daring prediction I will go so far to say that he is going to win it. He was the best player of the terriers in the second half of the season last year, and he will be BU’s best player this season. I would think he set up similar figures when Denver’s Zeev Buium did last season and possibly even darkened 50 points from the Blue Line. Add a full season of a second -year student Mikhail Yegorov to the net, and the terriers – again – have what is needed to go completely.

Regular season record (34 games): 24-8-2

Postseason Finish: Loss in NCAA regional final

MVP: Mikhail Yegorov

The most improved: Brandon Svoboda

Daring forecast: BU leads the nation in goals per match.

Bu suffered from youth and inexperience during a turbulent 2024-25, and their reaction in 2025-26 is to be … even younger and even less experienced. The terriers have 26 roasted players and 20 are underclass, including 12 first -year students. You have to give it to Jay Pandolfo and Joe Pereira – amid a furious debate about whether programs should build a schedule in this way, BU’s copper has quadrupled. And I think, since this is perhaps the most talented selection in the country and that Bu found out how he could win without experience towards the end of last season, the plan of Pandolfo and Pereira will probably work. The regular season will feel more than 2023-24, when BU was in principle arranged in the top 3 all year round, than 2024-25. This group of attackers is incredible – at least four of them can be realistic BU’s MVP, such as defender Cole Hutson. Instead, I am fully changed with goalkeeper Mikhail Yegorov, who completely changed the trajectory of the 2024-25 season when he arrived in January. Brandon Svoboda is the type of player who can hold on the fourth rule throughout the season and still Have a plea for the most improved. But having said that, however, an en-Done hockey is almost impossible to predict. Much of the NCAA tournament comes down to happiness, and it would not surprise me if BU gets up this year. Four consecutive frozen four is difficult.

Regular season record (34 games): 26-7-1

Postseason Finish: Loss in frozen four

MVP: Cole Hutson

The most improved: Sascha Boumedienne

Daring forecast: Mikhail Yegorov wins the Mike Richter Award.

Despite the extreme youth of BU-no recurring seniors and only six total upperclassmen, the Terriers demonstrably the most talented selection in the nation, fed by a national 20 trekking choices. Everything of the term of office of Jay Pandolfo and the loaded schedule of BU would suggest that the terriers have what is needed to reach a fourth consecutive frozen frozen. As soon as the terriers are there, I think that the youth can lead to being surpassed in a semi -final. BU will score this season as Cole Hutson and Cole Eiserman who register phenomenal second seasons. The Terriers brought in major reinforcements with North Dakota transfers Sasha Boisvert (the NCHC Rookie of the Year), lonely senior Owen McRaughlin and a flurry of talented first -year students, including CHL Transfer Ryder Ritchie. I expect BU to get the production of all four forward lines, plus Hutson. The defense should look a lot improved a season ago, such as Carter Amico, Charlie Tretheway and Malte VASS add to a unit that should have more depth than it had a year ago. In the second half of last season, Sascha Boumedienne showed consistent flashes of the potential that he prepared in the first round of the NHL concept. I expect that the 18-year-old this season will be even better, now that he has a year of lecture hockey under his belt. Mikhail Yegorov will be a brick wall in the net and I see him acting as the best goalkeeper in the nation. In general, I think the regular season will sail smoothly, and a frozen four is certainly in the cards. However, the sixth national championship of the program is something that Terrier fans must continue to wait.

Hannah Connors

Regular season record (34 games): 25-8-1

Postseason Finish: Loss in frozen four

MVP: Cole Eiserman

The most improved: Kamil Bednarik

Daring forecast: Cole Hutson leads the country in points.

BU enters the season with a daring selection of 20 undercluding, making the terriers one of the youngest teams in college hockey. Last season the Terriers missed depth on the Blue Line. This year, with the development of recurring defenders Sascha Boummedienne and first -year student Charlie Tretheway, Carter Amico and Malte Vass, BU has more size and strength. With goalkeeper Mikhail Yegerov ready to start with, probably for the full season, the back of the ice is locked. On paper, all the ends of the defense seem to be one step further from last season. In the front, BU shows even more talent. I expect second -year students Kamil Bednarik and Brandon Svoboda to continue their consistent versions. Obtaining North Dakota is transferring Sacha Boisvert and Owen McLaughlin, together with first -year students Jack Murtagh, Conrad Fondrk and former CHL Ryder Ritchie, BU could make some of the most productive forward lines in the country. It is clear that I have to mention second -year star Powers Cole Hutson and Cole Eiserman. Cole Hutson, the NCAA Rookie of the Year of last season, should be arranged among the top producers of the nation with its two -way capacities. If he is back on Power Play with Eismanman, they will generate. In the second half of the season, Eiserman formed ahead in a stronger two -way with more defensive competence. I think this trend will only continue, making it my MVP choice. It is safe to say that BU will be back in the frozen four. However, it is still to be seen whether such a young team has what is needed to win everything. In the Jay Pandolfo era, the Terriers still have to miss the Frozen Four, but I don’t think the fourth time will be when they end the job.

Marcus Antonelli

Regular season record (34 games): 7/25/2

Postseason Finish: Loss in frozen four

MVP: Cole Eiserman

The most improved: Boumedienne Bagcha

Daring forecast: Three players score over five power play goals.

Jay Pandolfo’s name is written everywhere in the frozen four, so it is a safe gamble to assume that they will go back there. The terriers, although younger than ever, are more talented than ever. The amount of game changers in this grid is unimaginable; You will certainly see some firepower of the recurring second -year student Coles (Hutson and Eiserman). BU will also pick the luxury of a full season with goalkeeper Mikhail Yegorov among the legs. Other remarkable incoming important pieces such as Sacha Boisvert, Owen McLaughlin (both top scorers for North Dakota) and CHL phenomenon Ryder Ritchie will all make the attack of this team very dynamic – hence the daring prediction of high Power Play production. You can not forget the additional names obtained from the selected players in this previous NHL concept – almost each of them has a special elusive; Sacha Boumedienne (28th General by WPG) was the youngest NCAA player last year who developed as a nice Swedish wine. Day 2 names contain two forward picks: a spark plug with high intensity Jack Murtagh (40th by Phi) and Conrad Fondrk (50th by NJD), who has flashes of attacking skills. On the defensive side, a physical shutdown defender in Carter Amico (38th by Phi), a solid skater and shooter in Charlie Tretheway (73rd by Pit), and Malte Vass (76th by CBJ), who likes to make his hands dirty, ‘and can play with one fight. All this great talent, but it raises the question; Do they need what is to get over the bump? Almost 50% of the selection comes in as a first -year student in a program with National Championship ambitions. There is no doubt that this team can only win on talent; However, one must also take into account the possibility of growing pains for such an elevated goal. It will hinder or elevate them.
