The legend Wayne Rooney of Manchester United has given a brutal assessment of Ruben Amorim’s regime at Old Trafford, and claims that the team has been withdrawn since the Portuguese coach Erik ten Hag has replaced.
Amorim took the lead for United in November 2024, only fourteen days after the resignation of ten Hag. The Dutchman was left in the Premier League after nine games United, after an eighth place in 2023/24.
But despite a large reconstruction and heavy investments, Amorim has no improvement in improvement. United ended last season in the 15th-Hun Lowest Ever Premier League finish and 14th this period after Sunday’s 3-0 derby defeat against Manchester City.
How much has Ruben Amorim spent on Man United transfers?
Since his appointment, Amorim has been supported with more than a quarter of a billion pounds on the transfer market.
United spent £ 25 million to sign Left Back Patrick Dorgu halfway through last season, before he spatted another £ 232.4 million this summer to a club in a record-breaking Premier League window.
High -profile arrivals include Bryan Mbeumo (£ 65 million) and Benjamin Sesko (£ 74 million), both of which started next to Dorgu in the Manchester Derby.
What did Wayne Rooney said about Amorim?
Talk about The Wayne Rooney Show on BBC noiseUnited’s recordcorer of all time admitted that he wants to remain positive, but he sees no signs of progress.
Rooney said: “I want to be as supportive and positive as I can be with the manager and the players. But it is very difficult to sit here and to say that we see progression, and we see at least things that will get results in the near future. We don’t see that, and it is very difficult.”
The 39-year-old also emphasized the sight of Way fans who left Etihad as a damn charge.
“There was an image towards the end of the game where I saw the Manchester United fans leave,” he added. “You could hear the fans singing of Amorim’s name, but I think that is so powerful that the United fans left the game. You know the game is over and I think they were very disappointed in what they saw. It is hard to see how it goes.”

Rooney also asked Amorim’s tactics and his refusal to take away from his preference 3-4-3 formation.
“The problem with this system has two in the central midfield,” Rooney explained. “The players have not received the energy and legs to cover the full width of the field and go up and down. They are flooded and overwhelmed in that midfield.
“Listen, I have had my time as a manager and I know what it works, and I know what it’s like when someone else looks like and criticizes your formation. I can understand that, but it is so clear. If you have a hard time, you have to place three in midfield and give yourself a chance to compete.”
Rooney quickly concluded: “I think that if the manager is honest with himself, it will get worse.”
Has Man United really got worse under Amorim?
The figures paint a grim image. Since the arrival of Amorim, United has only taken 31 points of 31 league matches-fairly in the division next to Tottenham.
So far, Amorim has taken the lead of 47 games and has lost more than he has won, with 17 victories, 12 draws and 18 defeats – a profit percentage of only 36.17%.
For comparison: Ten Hag’s United won twice as much as they lost, with 70 victories, 23 treks and 35 defeats in 128 games, for a profit percentage of 54.69%.
The recent Displays from United also make a backup of Rooney’s concerns. A humiliating Carabao Cup -Exexit to League Two Grimsby has already stacked the pressure on Amorim this season, while United has only managed two goals from Open Spel in their opening of four competition matches.
For Rooney, the bottom line is that the rebuilding cannot be an excuse. He said: “Quite a few competition seasons that are relegation form. What is important if you try to implement a new style is that you also win games while you do that.”
