Ipswich Town should look to add some more firepower to their attacking department in the upcoming January transfer window.
Ipswich Town have the chance to bring in some new faces this winter. ITFC also has the option to let some players leave next month if necessary to free up space and money in their squad.
The Tractor Boys were relegated from the Premier League earlier this year after finishing in the bottom three along with Leicester City and Southampton. They currently look straight to the top flight the first time they ask.
Kieran McKenna’s team is in third place in the Championship trail Coventry City and Middlesbrough and are five points behind the latter. They are in the play-offs together with Hull City, Preston North End and Bristol City.
Ipswich Town drew 0-0 at Millwall last time on Boxing Day. They were unable to find a winner at The Den against the Lions and had to settle for a point in London due to a lack of attacking power.
The Suffolk team need to sign a new striker as soon as possible. With that in mind, Leeds United’s Joel Piroe should be on their radar.
Ipswich Town should target Leeds United striker Joel Piroe
Ipswich Town’s summer recruits such as Ivan Azon and Chuba Akpom have struggled to score goals. Meanwhile, George Hirst is injured and therefore currently unavailable for ITFC.
The 26-year-old Piroe is no longer guaranteed regular playing minutes at Leeds United. Therefore, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him leave the exit door in the near future his contract runs until 2027.
The Dutchman is a proven goalscorer in the second tier and would be ideal for the Tractor Boys if they manage to lure him to Portman Road. He scored 14 goals in all competitions during his first year at Elland Road, followed by 19 in the final campaign.
However, this season he has failed to secure a place in Daniel Farke’s starting XI due to the competition for his position. A change of scenery would benefit the former PSV and Swansea City man and Ipswich Town could guarantee him consistent minutes.

Ipswich Town need more firepower
Ipswich Town need another attacking option, especially in the middle, and Piroe fits the bill. ITFC are well stocked with options on the wing with players at their disposal such as Jaden Philogene, Jack Clarke and Sindre Walle Egeli, but need someone to finish the chances they create.
They are an attractive club to sign for under McKenna as they look to close the gap on Coventry City and Middlesbrough. Piroe may be up for a new challenge and if he’s willing to drop down a division, the Tractor Boys will certainly look to get to the front of the line.
