Badrinath commented on the explosiveness that Bishnoi could bring to the lineup along with Noor Ahmad, especially during home games in Chepauk. The cricketer turned commentator also predicted that Bishnoi would be someone for whom several teams will be willing to pay a hefty sum.
“He will be a great option, one CSK will definitely focus on. They don’t have two specialist spinners, Jadeja and Ashwin. They definitely need a spinner, and Ravi Bishnoi will be a four-over bowler. Wrist spinners have been successful at Chepauk. Noor Ahmad and Ravi Bishnoi will form a super combination. He is likely to go for a high price, but CSK will benefit if they buy him,” Badrinath said in a video on his YouTube channel.
The 45-year-old also mentioned the fast bowlers the five-time champions should target in the auction. He thought that reacquiring Matheesha Pathirana would be a good deal for CSK.
“CSK definitely needs a death bowler. Anrich Nortje is a fast bowler who can bowl with the new ball and in end overs. Gerald Coetzee will be a good option as he has also played for the Joburg Super Kings before. CSK also bid strongly for him in the last auction. Buying back Matheesha Pathirana at a lower price won’t be a bad option. But a death bowler is a must for CSK for which they can go for any of these three options,” he says. added.
C.S.K have INR 43.4 crore left in the bank with nine slots available to go to auction. As for overseas options, the Men in Yellow have four left. They will focus on maximizing their auction by purchasing some quality players to complete the roster.
The auction will take place on December 16 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. CSK will have their eyes on refining their squad. They come after a 10th place in the previous episode of the selection competition.
