Lipsey impressed Iowa State Coach TJ Otzelberger
Iowa State head coach TJ Otzelberger had a lot of praise for Lipsey after the 82-59 victory of the cyclones on Utah on January 7. He posted 20 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals in 33 minutes of action.
“Tamin was especially amazing how he sustained to guard basketball, look for rebounds, drive the ball force, reach the error line, make plays,” he said.
“I felt that it was probably his best game this year, to be honest, because his mentality set the tone for the game and everyone else on both sides of the basketball. That is the resilient warrior that he has been for us.”
Lipsey, an All-American from 2024, wounded during his career.
He tore an ACL in high school and sustained a number of injuries at the university, including a shoulder problem that required surgery, a broken thumb and a Lies tribe that limited him last March.
The State of Iowa is expected to open the season in the top 25 with Lipsey and colleague starters Joshua Jefferson and Milan Momcilovic who all return from last year’s team.
