The IOC previously left the sex regulations to the administrative bodies of individual sports instead of applying a universal approach.
A growing number of sports federations have athletes who have undergone male puberty participating in female female competition.
In February, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order that prevents transgender women to participate in female categories.
He specified that the order would include the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, and added that he will refuse visas for transgender athletes trying to visit America to compete in the LA games.
Coventry said that the groups “will enable us to get deadlines and giving important technical expertise to these complex and important discussions, while we are reinventing ourselves where we feel that it is necessary to strengthen our movement”.
The Zimbabwean added: “These groups receive constant feedback to ensure that everyone is fully coordinated and that all recommendations are fully integrated.”
The IOC said that the Olympic program working group will investigate the relevance of the disciplines during the games, as well as the scope of integrating new sports in it.
“It will also take into account the suggestion that traditional summer or winter sports can cross, the timing of the games and the sports calendar,” said it.
The Youth Olympic Games group will look at the potential and relevance of the youth event and take over the process of selecting the host for the 2030 edition.
