The Egypt international has been left at home ahead of his side’s Champions League match at San Siro after explosive comments in which he criticized boss Arne Slot and his treatment by the club and suggested his future lies elsewhere.
But Chivu refused to be involved in the circus.
“We all know what he represents for Liverpool and for the football world,” Chivu said at a press conference.
“I don’t talk about other teams’ problems. We also have our own problems and questions that we need to answer. It’s not my concern.”
“I know they have players who can replace him and that Liverpool, as always in their history, will maintain a high standard.
“We are talking about teams, not individuals.”
Despite his suggestion, he had his own problems. Chivu’s team is second in Serie A and has reached the Champions League final twice in three years.
He believed they should get more credit for that, although he is not feeling overly confident ahead of the clash with Liverpool.

“Everything is easy when you say it, it looks easy on the whiteboard and also on the screens,” he added.
“The problem is to translate those words into power on the field.
“We all know the intensity of Liverpool, the quality they have individually and collectively.
“Inter have carried the Italian flag high and around the world: it is not easy to reach two Champions League finals and a Europa League final in five years, and that must be recognised.
“An Italian team that plays like this deserves some praise, apart from the end result.”
