Everton 1 Newcastle 4 – Saturday 29 November 2025 5.30pm
Direct fan/writer response from some of our regular contributors to The Mag.
Nat Seaton:
‘Wow wow wow, what an achievement, what a game!
It all came together in the end to deliver our first away league win of the season.
Thanks Miley for that special Pickford moment and then Big Nick made it extra special with that excellent finish back past him.
Special Mention – Thiaw Thiaw Thiaw!!!
There are two more home games to come, bring it on!’
Billy Miller:
‘A great debut on the Hill Dickinson.
Shows how important that second goal is.
I think we would have won all those previous away games where we took the lead if we had had a two-goal lead.
If Everton’s consolation had been the equalizer, I would have feared we would leave with nothing again.
It was Pickford’s fault for the clumsy Miley’s shot. Always nice to see a Geordie embarrass the Mackem.
Lots of fantastic performances with the Deutsch Duo being my personal choice. Thiaw immense and grabs a brace between it all. I thought that was Woltemade’s best performance so far. Excellent link-up play and a class goal in its own right.
The trio of league games that started with Manchester City could have left us in a dangerous position but we won two of the three and then beat Spurs at St James’.
I don’t want to jinx it, but we’ve already won the last four of that competition, including one this season. A black and white Saturday that we can all enjoy. ‘
Matt Busby said…:
‘Back-to-back wins in the Premier League and we’re finally looking at the table.
Some great performances from the whole team and for once it just clicked.
What a finish from Woltemade. Two great headers from Thiaw and brilliant to see Miley get on the scoresheet.
Big Dan Burn is a colossus in his favorite position and our two young full-backs give us so many options.
And was today the day we finally got to see the real Tony Elanga?
Last point.
It’s been such a disastrous start to the season that if we win either of our next two games it will still be better than how we started last season. Last season the team could have finished second after two games. Just say…’
Tony Mallabar:
‘I’ve been told to turn the sky blue, but when I woke up this morning I managed to turn my bathroom toilet green, after an incident with fried spam fritters for tea last night.
So no first visit to the Scouse Mackemdome for me.
I lost my ticket (through the ticket transfer system, before anyone remembers to send me to the club).
So for me it was Eddie Howe’s Firestick Mags again…, and what an achievement.
Eddie rang the changes and boy did the job, controlled and clinical finishing, especially from big nick.
Being Newcastle’s biggest fickle fan now, I’ve offended Lewis Miley a bit here. But well done son, man of the match for me.’
Mark Jankowski:
‘Newcastle’s long wait for an away win in the Premier League came to an emphatic end tonight.
What a result and what an achievement.
Everyone was excellent, but I thought several players, including Louis Miley and Anthony Elanga, had their best performances of the season.
The disappointment of midweek was soon behind us and we can look forward to a big week with Spurs and Burnley coming to St. James.”
GTone:
‘Great performance tonight. That was great to watch.
Some players were absolutely outstanding.
How good are our full-backs? They were unplayable. Grealish and Ndiaye didn’t get a look.
And BDB in the right place was top class.
And what about Thiaw? I don’t see Schar taking his place now.
The goals were great, but I thought Nick’s chip was more important than T-Rex.
Happy days to us and happy birthday to Eddie.”
David Punton:
‘A week is a long time in football.
This one felt like a month, a real Toon roller coaster ride.
Elation at the game against Man City, devastation in Marseille, and then this destruction of Everton in their beautiful new stadium.
Howe got some support in midweek, so he’ll get all the credit tonight – including a win on his birthday.
The topic of conversation before kick-off was Nick Pope. Left off (apparently injured) and Ramsdale between the sticks.
Everton were comfortably defeated in that famous win at Old Trafford.
Thiaw is a monster of a player.
A huge victory, and also on the road. Enjoy every moment.’
