Insiders mixed up a newspaper cover in an attempt at satire, but acknowledge it was misleading.
ABC has apologized to Liberal Party Senator Jane Hume after she swapped an image in an attempt at humour.
On last Sunday Insiders The opening montage featured an image of Senator Hume holding up a newspaper front page.
The original front page, which was not included in the edit, featured an image of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese next to the headline “Life will be cheaper under me.”
But in an attempt to be satirical, the image was changed to three colleagues from Senator Hume’s Coalition, superimposed on the front page (pictured above).
ABC has confirmed that the change was made to the editing process to accompany a vote declaring that the Coalition had “made itself the story again”.
It is not clear whether Senator Hume’s office complained about the image, or whether it was easily interpreted as humor….
“Insiders acknowledges that although the editing attempted to be humorous, altering the image in this way was misleading and inaccurate and has apologized to Senator Hume,” ABC said.
All versions of the program have since been reworked to remove the modified image and restore it to the correct version (pictured below).
