The Edmonton Oilers can explore an exchange to tackle their target requirement depth, and a new proposal (or at least one hint against one) suggests that they can move to make a game for a prospect that has not received much grip with his current organization.

Oilers Insider Bob Stauffer hinted in a recent episode of oilers now that the organization may have a point of view that has a “connection” with the organization. “There is a connection,” Said staffer. He added: “There is a man in an organization that has not received much grip in recent years, and they still have a real charity perspective.” He then said, “There is your hint.”

It is clear that Stauffer would not reveal the name of the targeting prospect, but most believe that he referred to the best goal twin perspective of Detroit, Sebastian Cossa.

What would the oilers exchange to acquire Cossa?

Although the idea of Cossa is intriguing, there are a number of problems with the pitch from heavy.com to send Vasily Podkolzin and defender Brett Kulak to the Red Wings in exchange for the player. The relocation would enable the oilers to strengthen their goal conference -pipeline, but it does not yield a clear upgrade or a starter for the coming season. Cossa played one NHL match last season. He has no NHL experience further.

Oilers Sebastian Cossa Trade

Cossa can be a potential long -term solution, but that is certainly not a guarantee. And while moving Kulak and Podkolzin gives the Oilers Cap flexibility, sending two NHL schedules for a keeper who will probably not see much action, it seems that an overreaction of the team’s desire to upgrade in goal. Undoubtedly the red wings make this trade because both oilers are usable players. Edmonton would take a serious risk and replacing the two outgoing documents against their combined costs would be almost impossible.

Podkolzin, 24, had 24 points and 211 hits last season and is in line for an extension this summer. Kulak, 31, comes from a career-best 25-point season and registered for more than 140 minutes on the Penalty Kill, playing a versatile role for Edmonton’s last team. He is an ideal five or six defender in a top quality team.

In the meantime, Cossa, 22, placed a .911 savings percentage and 2.45 GAA in 41 AHL matches last season. Edmonton reportedly liked him since his concept year in 2021. He previously played with the Edmonton Oil Kings.
