The future of Connor McDavid’s next contract remains one of the most spoken storylines in the NHL because the regular season is only a few days away. Some believe that the announcement comes from an expansion. Others say that this can drag well in the 2025-26 season. TSN insider Darren Dreger said he is 50/50 who signed McDavid again.

Talk about Sanding burner (October 3), Dreger said: “If it happens, and I am still 50/50 that it will happen … But if it is done in the season, I still have the feeling that it will probably be a shorter contract, such as a two -year period.”

The hosts of the show, who were enthusiastic to hear such an explanation because they are fans of the Calgary Flames, asked why Dreger was so uncertain. They admitted that it was the lowest opportunities they have heard so far that McDavid will stay with the oilers.

Deger explained that there are enough reasons to believe that an extension is still possible. He called Leon Draisaitl who signed a long -term contract, with the wife of McDavid had a company and the superstar who liked the city and the oils as an organization. At the same time, Dreger believed that if the chance was better, the deal would be closed. “There are many reasons why it should be higher than 50/50,” he said. “But if it is higher than 50/50, why didn’t he already do it?”

McDavid Olympic comments

It is an intriguing explanation, but it is based on Dreger’s best gamble, not factual information that has him in the middle. Oilers is now organizing Bob Stauffer to his chance of 102% that McDavid signs again in Edmonton. Most insiders also believe that the deal will be completed, but many are uncertain about the specific terms or dollar figure.

If McDavid is expanding in the season, a short -term agreement seems to be at the forefront in terms of predictions of most analysts. A massive long -term obligation is still possible, but it seems less likely, given the time it has taken to secure this extension and to consider the rising salary limit.

Who thinks Dreger’s better for McDavid than the oilers?

Dreger added that he believes that the Los Angeles Kings will have strong ties with McDavid, because Ken Holland was close to the captain of the oilers. He also believes that the Dallas stars offer a lot that McDavid may find attractive, including new coach Gulutzan and a young core that has just come into their own and is ready for a while to be satisfied.
